Unit 3: Right Triangle Trigonometry and the Unit Circle (a traditional approach)
In this unit students will study the six trigonometric functions in depth. Requisite time will be spent on this unit to give students the opportunity to understand the unit circle, the culminating lesson being the graphing of the sine, cosine, and tangent functions.

3.1 - 2: Right Triangles
This information can be taught as one or two lessons. I've done both depending on my student population any given year. If you break into sections 3.1 and 3.2 I recommend letting 3.1 be the review of right triangles and trigonometric ratios and 3.2 be a review of angles of elevation and depression problems.

Lesson 3.8 Introduction: Graphing Sine, Cosine, and Tangent Functions
Introduction Materials
I like to print each function on a different color paper and illustrate how Tangent - Sine/Cosine with usig the colors. For example, this year I will print Sine on Yellow Paper, Cosine on Blue Paper, and Tangent on Green Paper since Yellow and Blue mix to make Green. |
Website List of different visuals (Desmos, Analyzing Math, etc)
I use these websites as I go through each parent function. They give a nice visual of how the unit circle that we've been working with maps to these functions. |

Lesson 3.8: Transformations of Sine and Cosine Functions
Lesson 3.8 requires students to go through the guided notes as they work through the Desmos investigation (links are in the guided notes). I usually put students in pairs to complete the investigation. Typically, students can get through all of the sine investigations in a 45 minute class period and then I'll assign the rest for homework and we come together the next class to discuss.

Lesson 3.9: Modeling with Sine and Cosine Functions
Lesson 3.9 requires students to go through the guided notes as they work through the Desmos Investigation (similar to Lesson 3.9). I usually have students work in groups and restrict the slides so that students go through each part of the investigation with their groups and then we break and discuss. You can restrict which slides are open in Desmos so that students can't move ahead.

Modeling Project with Trigonometry
There are three different choices for this project. Students choose one to complete of the three.
